Knowing your own part in things really helps to understand why things happen the way they do. This self reflection can be just as valuable as having an intention. Maybe even more so - as long as you are honest with yourself, and are willing to face the concequences of not thinking things through. Imagination can only get you so far.
Planning ahead is important. But, it's also good to be able to go with the flow. It's ok to take a look and find your understanding of things after the fact too. You can plan times for both. Allow yourself to expand your comfort zone a little and feel free to make a few mistakes by letting your mind stop thinking too much.
Then, Reflect on why you take the actions that you do. Do your actions hurt anyone else? Future you? How could you shift things a bit next time? When you do shift things next time- it will solidify that you can handle making mistakes once in a while and the world won't end.
