Happiness comes from freedom - and freedom can only come with the ability to think for yourself. So, practicing thinking outside the box is a really important step towards happiness.
Thinking of alternative solutions consciously helps to be able to see the whole picture, and be able to navigate to the best possible outcome for everyone.
Maybe you could shift your plan so you can simplify things, save some money, or help a friend.
Even if you don't end up choosing an alternative option the practice helps re-wire your brain to be more flexible. Knowing that you have that option, and you're free to choose feels so good!
