Shifting Priorities

Today's intention is about shifting priorities to make sure to include yourself - and even more than that - to put yourself first.
Many people get a lot of joy from giving to others. And many also push it too far, and drain themselves in the process. (Myself included on both) Take a moment and think about the people and situations in your life. Are your priorities aligned with being able to reach your own goals? Are your goals your own- or someone elses?
It's a legitimate choice to prioritize someone else and sacrifice yourself - it's ingrained in us as a species in order to be better at raising our kids. But it's meant to be a short term sacrifice - not a life long one. Be aware of it if this is where you're at right now, and shift to allow yourself to dive into it fully and set your own plans aside for now. And then plan ahead to have a clear understanding of when to shift back to your own wants and needs. This is still putting yourself first because first, you're prioritizing a plan that takes care of you in the future, and meets your need to help.
On the other hand, if you've put in your time with a situation and feel like it's time to shift, today is the day at taking a look at how to make that happen.
Shifting priorities can be one of the hardest choices to make, especially if those around you have been taking advantage or gotten super comfortable with the support you've been giving them. Being intentional, going slowly and being clear and gentle with your boundaries as you set them can really help make for smooth transitions - instead of waiting til you've hit your wall and ending up "going postal" or having a "table flip" moment like I did when I left my last job. (😂)
