Read Between the Lines

A person's actions will always tell you who they are to you.

Trust your instincts and act accordingly.

It is a good thing to have hope and have faith that someone will change for the better. But it's also a good thing to recognize that might not happen. Or to see the goodness in them even when they don't show it outwardly.

It's important to recognize the reality of the situation, and not ignore it.

Take a look - Read between the lines on your own actions. Are you sacrificing your own wants and needs? Putting someone else first can seem altruistic, but it isn't sustainable. What is even more fulfilling is to work with someone who can utilize what you give them and run with it. Those who truely want what you have to offer will appreciate what you give without continuing to ask for more.

The reality is, that some people are actually seeking to be miserable. if you let them take you down too and let yourself get depleted, you'll just have to reloy on someone else in the future - and it becomes a negative cycle.

So, examine the actions of the people in your life - and your own. What are those actions telling you? There's no right or wrong answer - just understanding.
