When was the last time that someone held space for you? Where they were able to sit with your messy thoughts or emotions and just be there for you through it? When was the last time that you were able to do that for soemeone else? What was the setting? Was there a need for alcohol or other triggers to be able to tap into that space? Maybe after a good workout or sports event? Understanding the setting that suits you and being able to cultivate those spaces as you need to is a huge asset to your wellbeing toolbox. Maybe today, make a plan for one of those activities. Plan to have some time to vent to a friend. Being proactive in venting and getting things off your chest really helps avoid explosions later on once things have built too much pressure. ** For me - I like to be in my own space and talking on the phone. I can putter and that helps occupy parts of my brain that might otherwise go off on tangents away from what I really want to say.
