Taking the decision to live and turning it into a practice. Making decisions that will enhance your life today and tomorrow.
What is currently in your life that is keeping you unhappy? Can you give yourself permission to navigate away from it? Is there anything that makes you happy that you can work towards?
Too much self soothing tends to be destructive to your future self. Will your choices continue to make you happy tomorrow?
Too much focus on the future can cause you to neglect your current situation and is an attempt to hide or ignore the hurt from the past - which is dishonouring who you are as a person. Are your choices respecting and honouring your past self?
Really take a look at each choice you are making, and track your progress - give yourself proof. Let yourself see the progress. Make yourself accountable to ensure that there is progress. If there is no progress - let yourself let go of that goal. At least for now. The point is to work towards happiness, so if the results aren't making you happy, choose something else. Start small if you have to. But give yourself something to work towards where you can see the progress.
My story: I started the practice of daily gratitude 10 years ago - inspired by Jay Shetty's "Book of Awesome" And it has grown into many daily practices that add up to a lot of self growth. - https://globalhappiness.org/books/the-book-of-awesome/
