Wipe the Slate Clean

I think it's important to do a reset every once in a while.
Not only to remove all the bad things - but some good ones too... to make room for the better things. To be more intentional about adding those good things back into life.
We tend to have a few opportunities created for us as children to do this - such as finishing high school and moving out on our own. But as adults, we have to be brave enough to take a leap of faith and go through this process of clearing.
We live in a busy world - and it's amazing how cluttered our physical space, our minds and our lives can get if we don't take time to "clean the slate" every now and then.
New Years is always a perfect time to start those resolutions - but adding another task to the pile might not be the best answer. First, I suggest making some room.
The first step is to take a day to rest, to trust that you will continue to work on all the good things for yourself that you get excited about at New Year's. It's OK to rest and take a day off. A day to stay off of the phone and off of all social media. A day to yourself.
With the sudden drop in holiday gatherings, it's easy to want to try to keep the fun times continuing, to want to use the hype to inspire you to do those resolutions.
But, instead, I'm think it can be more beneficial to shift gears and take some time to to re-connect with yourself and have a break after the chaos of Christmas. To let go of the need to stay connected, or to need to keep rolling with the high energy.
It's important to clean things up and start fresh every once in a while.
